Chelsea duo set for Stamford Bridge stay

The Telegraph understands that Chelsea will not move to sell Tiemoue Bakayoko or Alvaro Morata this summer.

Both players have fallen somewhat short of expectation in their first season at Stamford Bridge but neither will be let go unless they request to leave.

Bakayoko has racked up thirty-nine appearances for the Blues in all competitions since signing from Monaco in the summer of 2017, scoring three goals.

Morata signed from Real Madrid for a club record fee last July and has since played forty-three times, scoring fourteen goals eleven of which have come in the Premier League.

Last season’s Premier League champions are in danger of missing out on qualifying for next season’s Champions League as they sit five points behind fourth place Tottenh…

O´Neill out, Lamouchi in at Nottingham Forest

Martin O Neill has left Nottingham Forest after just five months in charge, with Sabri Lamouchi appointed as the Championship club s new head coach.

After leaving his role with the Republic of Ireland, former Celtic and Aston Villa manager O Neill along with assistant Roy Keane took over in January.

O Neill enjoyed a trophy laden spell at Forest during his playing days, winning the First Division title, two European Cups and one League Cup during his time at the City Ground under Brian Clough s guidance.

However, he could not propel Forest into the play-offs in the second half of the 2018-19 campaign, winning eight of his 19 games in charge.

Amid reports suggesting several key players had turned against O Neill, the 67-year-old has departed Forest, …

Bayern Munich 1 Stuttgart 4: Champions stunned in Heynckes´ farewell match

Bayern Munich finished the Bundesliga season with a shock 4-1 home defeat to Stuttgart, as the final league game of Jupp Heynckes second spell in charge ended in disappointment.

The champions were blown away by the visitors slick counter-attack, as Anastasios Donis, Chadrac Akolo and a double from Daniel Ginczek ended their 38-match unbeaten run at home in the top flight.

The loss, only their fourth under Heynckes this season, somewhat soured the title celebrations at the Allianz Area, as Bayern got their hands on the trophy for the sixth season in a row while saying goodbye to their coach.

Heynckes – who will step down after the DFB-Pokal final – and former Bayern defender Holger Badstuber were given special tributes before kick-off, but Stuttgart looke…

Bayern could have signed Ousmane Dembele

German media outlet Bild claims that Bayern Munich missed the opportunity to sign French winger Ousmane Dembele who eventually ended up joining arch rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Both sides decided to step up their interest in the talented footballer near the end of 2015, but the Bavarians made a huge mistake that ended up costing them dearly.

Namely, while Dortmund were in talks with Dembele’s actual representative Marco Kirdemir, Bayern technical director Michael Reschke was speaking to his former agent Badou Sambague instead.

As soon as they heard that the Bavarians were keen, the Millionaires wrapped up the deal and ended up getting their hands on the marvellous footballer.

Dembele, 19, has enjoyed a bright start to his career at Signal-Iduna Park and…

Di Matteo: Sporting clashes crucial

Roberto Di Matteo feels Schalke s UEFA Champions League double header with Sporting Lisbon is crucial to making the knockout stages.

Bundesliga side Schalke have taken two points from matches against Chelsea and Maribor in their opening two Group G matches.

Di Matteo will now take charge of the Gelsenkirchen side for the first time in European competition since replacing Jens Keller as head coach earlier this month.

The 44-year-old, who led Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2012, is content with Schalke s position, but believes the club s hopes of progressing in the competition could hinge on the two games with Sporting.

In the Champions League you ve got to try to win at home because winning away is tough, he said ahead of Tuesday s encounter at the …

Tadic signs new Southampton contract

Southampton have signed playmaker Dusan Tadic to a new four-year contract.

The 27-year-old, who joined Southampton from Twente in 2014, has been linked with a move away from St Mary s Stadium following manager Ronald Koeman s departure to Everton.

But he has now quashed talk of a potential exit by committing his future to the club until 2020.

Tadic scored nine goals and assisted 14 more in all competitions as Southampton achieved their highest Premier League finish last season by claiming sixth place.

And the Serbia international revealed that, although he had offers from elsewhere, he was impressed by the club s determination to keep him on the south coast.

I am really pleased. I have had two beautiful years here and a great connection …

Pulis signs contract extension at West Brom

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at The Hawthorns until the end of next season.

The club says the new deal brings assurance and stability after the takeover by Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai, with the eventual aim of establishing West Brom as a top-half side.

Pulis arrived in January 2015 when the club were just outside the relegation places, and steered them to 13th and 14th place Premier League finishes.

West Brom are 13th, with two wins and four draws from their opening nine league games ahead of the visit of Manchester City on Saturday.

Speculation had surrounded Pulis future earlier in the season when he appeared critical of the club s transfer activity during the transfer window, but the We…

Terzic lambasts ´brutally disappointing´ Dortmund after Stuttgart draw

Edin Terzic called Borussia Dortmund s 3-3 draw with Stuttgart brutally disappointing as they missed the chance to move level with Bayern Munich at the Bundesliga summit.

The Black and Yellow looked on course to join Bayern at the top of the table when Gio Reyna struck in second-half injury time at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

But a 97th-minute equaliser from Silas Katompa Mvumpa instead saw them drop two crucial points in the title race against their 10-men hosts.

It is the latest capitulation of a topsy-turvy season for Dortmund, and Terzic did not hold back in his scathing assessment of their performance after the final whistle.

We missed a huge chance as a team, he told Sky Sport Germany. That is brutally disappointing.

It is hard for me to find the…

Laporta hits out at Real Madrid as Barcelona president strongly refutes corruption allegations

Joan Laporta claimed Real Madrid have always been favoured by referees as he labelled the capital club the team of the regime .

Barca s president spoke at a press conference on Monday to robustly defend the club amid allegations they made payments to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the technical committee of referees.

The club are subject to a UEFA investigation with prosecutors in Spain pursuing charges for alleged corruption. Barca are accused of having paid over €7million to a company owned by Negreira.

Laporta, though, has insisted Barca have no case to answer, as he looked to turn the spotlight onto rivals Madrid.

I want to mention a club which decided, on its own, to appear in court when the trial happens, Laporta said.…

Comolli: Manchester United need a Director of Football

Manchester United needs a Director of Football, according to Liverpool s former transfer overseer Damien Comolli.

After United s frustrating and largely unsuccessful transfer season, the man who is responsible for a number of football s best and worst transfers has thrown his voice into an orchestra of negative pundits.

The issue for Manchester United is that the two most important people at the club in Sir Alex (Ferguson) and David Gill left their positions and new people came in for their first transfer window, Comolli told BBC Radio 5.

If there was a club in need of a director of football to ease the process for both individuals it was Manchester United.

David only joined on July 1 which was quite late. For some reason the club weren t prepared or they didn t …
